Our Journey in Small Business Investing

We started this website based on finding a need in the market when we began our own journey to acquire a small business. We noticed a gap in the funding available for acquiring small businesses between the $5M to $15M price range. That gap is typically a lack of funds the entrepreneur is able to bring to the deal.

Seeking Funding for Small Business Acquisition

As a result, the entrepreneur usually has to reach out to Private Equity or Venture Capital funds. However, this deal size is generally too small for these types of funds to be interested. Additionally, while either group will have its pros and cons, the bottom line is that if the entrepreneur can secure either group's investment, they lose control of the company they are trying to acquire.

From our own journey, we discovered a better way. A way that is better for the entrepreneur and the individual investor. One that helps bridge the gap in funding and keeps control of the company in the hands of the entrepreneur.

What Sets Us Apart

Syndications have been around since 1933, and preferred shares have been around since the railroads started using them in the 1800s. Neither are newfangled investment schemes. What is more unique, is combining them together.

Syndications are most commonly used for real estate investments, and preferred shares are typically reserved for VC funds or through the stock market, but even then most preferred shares on the stock market are usually focused on the finance sector due to their heavy cash reserves.

However, in the small business world, there are several stable companies with 5+ year track records that regularly throw off stable cash flows across sectors that can support the dividends these types of investments require.

It's a tool that marries entrepreneurial grit with well-established financial processes and perfectly embodies the types of entrepreneurs and investors we look to serve.
