About Gap Shares

Experience on one side.
Capital on the other.

Gap Shares is being developed around a familiar acquisition problem: a capable operator can find a business to buy and still struggle to reach investors for the equity they need.

Why this matters

The funding gap is personal.

The idea comes from firsthand experience searching for, financing, and operating a small business. Finding the business is only part of the work. Lining up equity, understanding the financing, and preparing for a difficult year can shape everything that follows.

We’re building an approach that helps experienced operators present the acquisition clearly, with a podcast interview and a consistent set of supporting materials. Investors can begin with the business and the person who would lead it, then ask the questions that matter to them.

The plan extends beyond the closing. Reporting expectations, experienced board support, and clear responsibilities are part of the model we’re developing, so the conversation includes what ownership will require after the acquisition.

We plan to bring the business, the operator, and the questions into one view.

The approach

01

Prepare the acquisition

Make the business history, equity need, and ownership transition clear enough to examine.

02

Meet the operator

Use an interview to explore industry experience, judgment, and the difficult parts of the plan.

03

Plan beyond the close

Discuss reporting, operating support, risks, and responsibilities before deciding to proceed.
